Early Head Start

Mission Statement

The Murray Head Start Program provides comprehensive services, primarily to low-income children birth to five and their families, in collaboration with local school districts and institutions of higher education in western Kentucky.

Early Head Start offers comprehensive services for expecting mothers and children birth to three years old.

Classes for birth to 3 years old

Our program offers rich learning environments that are nurturing spaces that support the development of all young children.

We utilize the Creative Curriculum to provide guidance on designing developmentally appropriate schedules, routines, and indoor and outdoor opportunities for choice, play, exploration, and experimentation. The Creative Curriculum clearly identifies nine areas of development and learning: Social-Emotional, Physical, Language, Cognitive, Literacy, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Studies, and the Arts. Learning environments include age-appropriate equipment, materials, and supplies. They also reflect home cultures and are flexible to support the changing ages, interests, and characteristics of a group of children over time

We provide 3 meals a day, formula, baby food, diapers, and wipes.

Expecting Mother Assistance

Are you, or do you know someone who is, an expecting mother?  Our expecting mother program ensures that your child will have a spot when the time comes. We offer lessons once a week for expecting mothers to learn what is happening during pregnancy, how to prepare for a baby, and focus on a healthy pregnancy both physically and mentally.
