Cyber Safe Teen

Graves County Schools will be hosting Cyber Safe Teen training sessions for students at all schools in the district during the weeks of October 11 and October 18. These sessions will focus on strategies to keep our children and teens safe with positive interactions on their phones and online.  Cyber Safe Teen training helps schools empower students to make safer and smarter decisions in how they engage with technology and social media.

Parent sessions are also available at multiple times and locations.  These sessions will focus on teaching parents how to help their children be safe online and/or on their phones. The trainers will also guide parents in how to monitor their child's interactions online.

The Cyber Safe Teen trainings are led by retired detectives with experience in internet related crime investigations.  Detective Bob Couchman is a US Army veteran. He worked as a detective for the Madisonville PD (KY) where he investigated online crimes against children. Det. Couchman was a member of several federal task forces including the US Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force who taught him to examine computers and cell phones.  He has been the Keynote speaker at the National School Resource Officer Conference, has trained School Resource Officers for the Department of Criminal Justice Training, and has trained thousands of students and parents on cyber safety.

He is joined by Detective Mike Lemon, Founder or Cyber Safe Teen.  Det. Lemon has spent over a decade of his career at Bowling Green PD investigating Internet Crimes Against Children cases with the US Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.  Through his investigations and examinations, he has helped put over 100 pedophiles in prison. He used this experience to create Cyber Safe Teen with the goal to build a safer world for our children.

Join us for a presentation that helps parents and students make safer decisions in how they interact on their phones and online.  The information is especially important for parents of children Kindergarten-12th grade; but, all community members are welcome.
