Central Elementary art teacher Beth Dillon published a book during the summer of 2020. The title of the book is Clumsy Lumsy and explores the idea of kids being jealous of other people until they realize their own talents, promoting the idea that everyone has something unique to offer. What makes this book even more special is that it is illustrated by Graves County 7th grader Karsyn Jones.
Dillon said she has actually started several books over the years, but during quarantine she had time to finish them. “My students have been the inspiration for all of them,” she said. Dillon came about asking Jones to illustrate her book when she saw Karsyn’s drawings she submitted during NTI.
Karsyn said she has been drawing for 3-4 years, and her favorite part about the book was all the color she got to use. Karsyn added that she’d like to pursue a career in art and photography, possibly even interior design.
The book is available on Amazon and was actually #1 for two straight days in the nursery rhyme book category on that site.
Congratulations to Mrs. Dillon and Karsyn on this impressive achievement!
