Graves County Schools’ Matt Powell serves as co-grand marshal of Gov. Andy Beshear’s inauguration parade

Graves County Central Elementary School custodial supervisor Matt Powell served as co-grand marshal of Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear’s inauguration parade in Frankfort Tuesday, Dec. 10. Powell is a member of the board of directors of both the Kentucky Education Association and the Kentucky Education School Professionals Association. This year, he won both state and national awards as Education Support Professional of the Year. “For the first time in the history of Kentucky, the governor chose to allow someone else to lead the inauguration parade,” Powell said. “It was educators. Kentucky Teacher of the Year Erin Ball (of Georgetown Middle School in Scott County) and I were honored to lead the way, with educators from across the commonwealth right behind us. It was a celebration of education and a wonderful gesture from the governor for which I will be forever grateful.”
