Early Eagle Academy to host its families for Early Literacy Family Night at GCMS library 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14

The Early Eagle Academy childcare program invites all children enrolled and their parents to Early Literacy Family Night in the Graves County Middle School library from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14.

The children can partner with a special book character to read, play a book walk game, obtain a free book, create their own family book, learn about signing up for a public library card, and get information about early literacy to learn what families can do to help at home.

The academy hopes to offer a special themed night each month for its students and their families. Most special nights will fall on the second Thursday of the month. The idea is to bring families together to help bridge the gap between home and school with free fun and games. Upcoming themes include the fall season, a family night, helping others, physical fitness, healthy habits, kindness, math, science, Camp EEA, a pool party, and an ice cream social.

The Early Eagle Academy is a childcare program targeted for children ages 2-5 through the Graves County Schools. It focuses on building school-readiness skills in a playful environment. Primary goals are to help the child and family prepare for kindergarten. The Early Eagle Academy offers families convenient, affordable daycare.

Child daycare sites include Graves County Middle School and the elementary schools of Fancy Farm and Farmington. Sedalia Elementary School’s Early Eagle Academy is available only to current preschool students. Plans are to expand to other Graves County Schools in the future.

The program will operate on a year-round basis and provide full-day, full-week childcare (Monday-Friday; 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m.). Part-time childcare for current Graves County preschool students also is available as a “wrap-around” program to assist working families at most locations. In addition, drop-in/emergency care services are offered, as space is available.
